Our most important activity is the programme of nine lectures a year. These are held on Tuesday mornings at 10.45am (coffee available from 10am) in the Wolfson Hall at Churchill College Cambridge.

We arrange Visits to places of interest and hold in-depth Special Interest Days on topics of special interest.

Granta encourages artistic activities among schoolchildren in the Cambridge area through an annual Young Arts Competition, and we also support the Fitzwilliam Museum Education programme and other local arts charities.

There are groups of Church Recorders, who record and photograph the interiors of churches and their contents, and Heritage Volunteers who help to record and file archival material for museums and other collections.

Each year there is a residential tour lasting between four and six days, alternating between the United Kingdom and overseas.

Annual General Meeting, 14th May 2019 at 10.30, in the Wolfson Hall, Churchill College. The Agenda, Minutes of the last AGM, and the proposed new Constitution which will be put to members at the AGM can all be found in the Documents section of the website, here

GRANTA NEEDS YOU! We urgently need a few more committee members! The work involved is not arduous - the committee meets once per month in congenial surroundings, with refreshments provided. We usually meet on the Tuesday before the next lecture, and the meeting lasts a couple of hours. At this stage we are looking for committee members 'without portflio' - i.e. no-one is going to expect you to take on one of the major responsibilities immediately.

Having said that, we are looking for someone to take on the role of Treasurer. If you have an interest in numbers and spreadsheets and would be willing to help in this way we would love to hear from you. Whoever takes on this role will be extremely well supported while he/she gets familiar with the task.

Please contact any committee member - details on this page - if you would like to hear more about either of these roles.
