  • your preferred title (Mr, Mrs Etc.), address and telephone number. We require these for the headquarters database.
  • your email address - email is our much preferred method of communication as it is quick and free. We guard your details with great care and do not inundate you with emails.

Subscriptions

Our subscription year runs from September to August, and the annual fee is £50 per year (September to August). There are two ways to pay:

  • By cheque (made payable to The Arts Society Granta). Cheques should be sent to Chris Blencowe, at 8 South Park Drive, Papworth Everard, Cambridge CB23 3LG.
  • By bank transfer: Name: The Arts Society Granta Code: 20-17-35 A/c number: 80433713. Please use the reference SUBS <Initial><Surname>.

If you would like to set up a standing order for single membership, please use this Standing Order form. For dual membership, it's this form. Please note that some browsers - in particular Firefox - do not always link correctly to these documents. If you do not 'land' on the correct page, you can also find the relevant standing order forms in our Documents section. Look for items dated 11 August 2024. And apologies for the inconvenience.

Gift Aid

We encourage members who are UK taxpayers to Gift Aid your membership fee as this provides a 25% boost to our funds and may enable us to make charitable gifts to worthy causes as well as keeping our subscription down. If you pay by BACS you can avoid the cost of postage by passing the completed form to any Committee Member at your first meeting (look out for the blue badges). A Gift Aid declaration form must be completed and may be downloaded here: Gift aid form. If you encounter any difficulty with the link, please look in our Documents section. The gift aid form is dated 19 May 2025.

Not quite sure yet? No problem... If you have not quite made up your mind about joining us you are very welcome to attend two lectures a year as the guest of an existing member, and you may also come to some visits, on the same basis as members.

Granta members may also become Heritage Volunteers or Church Recorders, and may take part in other Granta activities such as Young Arts.

Membership of Granta includes membership of The Arts Society, whose quarterly Arts Society Review is posted directly to members. The review includes information on Area and National lectures, Special Interest Days and Exhibitions. The Arts Society membership card entitles members to certain concessions, and you can find details of these in the 'Offers' section of the latest copy of the review. You can also find out more about the Arts Society at this link: https://theartssociety.org/

Transferring from another Arts Society

Members of other Societies who move into the Cambridge area are welcome to join Granta at any time. A reduced subscription will be requested from those who join part way through the year.

Guests

Members may bring guests to the lecture for the modest contribution of £5, payable to the Treasurer on the day. The same person may not attend as a guest more than three times in any one year.

Joining the committee

We always like to hear from any member who is interested in joining the committee! If you would like to know more about what's involved in being a member of the committee, please have a word with any committee member. You'll also find descriptions of each committee rôle in our Documents section. Look for the date: 22 September 2021.
