The Sixth Form Art Exhibition and Competition

Granta has supported an exhibition and competition of the work of local sixth form art students for many years. The event has been through various iterations, depending on venue availability, examination regulations, and COVID - when we went online for two years. Our sister Societies in Cambridge also support it. 

The current format is a two-week exhibition in Michaelhouse Café on Trinity Street in late May/early June. We show between 50 and 60 pieces of work which have been selected by the art teachers in participating schools. In recent years these have included Abbey College, Hills Road, Impington, Long Road, Netherhall, Perse Girls, Stephen Perse, St Mary's and The Leys.

The exhibits are judged by professional artists and cash prizes are awarded. The talent of these young people is prodigious, and we strongly encourage anyone who has a spare half hour (or more!) to pop into Michaelhouse for a light lunch or coffee and the chance to see this impressive collection.
